Brevard Physician Associates Emergency Department is made up of 46 dynamic Board-Certified physicians and 44 Advanced Health Practitioners (APRNs and PA-Cs) that have specific emergency medicine training. Our compassionate team of providers is supported by a trained medical and professional staff. We strive to provide exceptional care within the integrated health system of Health First that complements our care with multiple resources, including advanced diagnostic capabilities for adults and children.

Our history: Brevard Physician Associates Emergency Medicine Division is a joint venture between what was formerly known as Brevard Emergency Services and Space Coast Emergency Physicians. Brevard Emergency Services has been providing Emergency Department Healthcare Services at Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne, Florida, since 1984. Since its opening, Brevard Emergency Services has expanded to offer similar services at Palm Bay Hospital. Space Coast Emergency Physicians have provided Emergency Department Healthcare Services at Cape Canaveral Hospital over the past decade and at Viera Hospital since its inception in April 2011. The four hospitals include the only Level II Trauma Center and a dedicated Emergency Pediatric Department.

Our Physician Directors oversee First Flight: which is the emergency helicopter transport service of Health Frist—based at Holmes Regional Medical Center. First Flight is Brevard County’s only air ambulance. The Medical Director, Dr. Marty Brown, is also a pilot and has been overseeing this program since 2000. In addition, Dr. Larissa Dudley, the Assistant Medical Director, has a fellowship in emergency medical services.

Service Multiple Locations

• Provides emergency medicine services at four hospitals, including a Level II Trauma Center, with a dedicated Emergency Pediatric Department.

Our Team Consists of:

• 46 Board Certified Emergency Physicians,

• 44 Advanced Health Practitioners (ARNPs & Physician Assistants), and

• 75 Scribes who collaborate with our Emergency Department Providers taking care of approximately 175,000 Emergency Department visits annually.

BPA Scribes aid in the optimization of healthcare delivery and in meeting clinical data standards. The scribe's primary role is to collaborate with the Emergency Department provider to ensure all in-room documentation is captured, carry out requests for additional information from the provider, and assist in preparing patients to be discharged.

Our physician-owned and operated business model provides for improved decision management and operations, led by administrators intimately aware of day-to-day operations. It also allows for optimal physician autonomy and morale.
